Voters in New York's 29th State Senate District overwhelmingly supported State Senator Duane for a fifth term in the 2006 election. After the preliminary count, he had defeated his Republican opponent 88%-12% and had received 73,339 votes -- more than any other State Senate candidate in New York.
Like the other 61 New York State Senators, he will next be up for re-election in 2008.
